The holiday season is a time of joy for everyone and a tradition that is loved by all is the Elf on the Shelf. This whimsical elf can get into all sorts of trouble and it can be a great way to get the children excited about Christmas.
There are so many fun ways to introduce
The Elf on the Shelf and you can find many of the props you need in My Magical Moments. You can create an arrival scene so that it looks like the elf has just arrived from the North Pole. There can be a suitcase or a box with the elf inside along with fake snow, a travel map a passport and a note from Santa that will explain the mission of the elf and what they plan to do in your home. This can be a letter that has postage from the North Pole post office. This will be the beginning of the elf’s stay and it will be a great way to fire up your child’s imagination about the magical world of Santa. You can have a special elf themed breakfast to kick off the holiday season. The table can be set with Christmas themed items.
The theme can include napkins, plates, cups and cutlery that go with the same theme.
The food you select will also be connected to this. You can have pancakes that are shaped like reindeer. You can even have hot cocoa with marshmallows. The elf can be in a prominent spot at the breakfast table and they can be sitting in their own chair preparing to dig into breakfast. There can be a note from the elf that will welcome the whole family into the festive season. This can hint at all the fun that is still to come. You can look into whimsical ways to bring the elf into the house. You can have them arrive at the house on a helium filled balloon. The elf can be attached to the balloons and it can look as if it is floating down from the sky. The elf can even be placed inside the balloon and your child can pop it and set them free. You can even create a hot air balloon with a basket attached to the balloons.
You can also tell your children about elf stores and what they can expect.
Talk to them about ways to welcome the elf into the house. One of the ways you can do this is throwing the elf a housewarming party. You can set up a small house for the elf and this can be a cardboard box that you and your children create as a crafts project. You can even have a dollhouse for this. There is miniature furniture that can be bought for this and you can even have a tiny Christmas tree inside. This can be where your child can interact with the elf. You can incorporate Christmas music and lights to make the arrival of the elf more magical.
